The Survivors Of Cancer or SOCS, was founded in the spring of 2002 to help Cape May County cancer patients in treatment. Jimmy Kane, the owner of the former Red Garter Bar in North Wildwood, New Jersey, was the main founder of the organization.  

Kane enlisted the help of cancer survivors and many others whose lives were impacted by this terrible disease. SOCS was incorporated in 2007. Since our establishment we have raised approximately 2 million dollars and helped over 2,000 people.

The organization holds several fundraisers a year. The business community, local communities and memorial donations add to the funds raised. SOCS has no salaried employees and is an all-volunteer organization.
